China's official "urban registered unemployement rate" is currently said to be 4.6%. The @#$%& is in the details. Overall Chinese unemployment and underemployment have been reported to be higher by other sources. Less Chinese goods landing on U.S. shores, and increased competition from cheaper manufacturing sources in southeast Asia, have been putting a tighter squeeze on the Chinese economy than some people would like you to think.
