Magma Arizona Railroad, June 1967

The Six Day War in the Middle East was over and the Tet Offensive in Viet Nam was still seven months away but all that seemed very far away as Magma Arizona 2-8-0 #5 switched the yard in Superior, AZ. They were gettimg ready for a trip down to the interchange with the SP at Magma Junction. The second photo is southbound, just North of Desert Tank.

The air temp that day was 114 degrees.
