In 2002, I shot a lot of photos on the station platforms in Genoa, Florence, and Pisa, and no one paid the slightest attention to me. However, in 2006, I was given the bum's rush in the station in Rome that serves the beach trains twice by the same cop--once while photographing on the platforms, and again while shooting the preserved equipment in the adjacent open-air display area. I couldn't figure out why you couldn't take pictures in a museum setting. He was really pissed the second time, but I emerged with my freedom and film intact!
