Regarding the "... BNSF north of Interbay and the basule ( sic ) bridge": the only bascule bridge in this area, known to the RR as 'Bridge 4 ', and foamers as the Ballard Lift Bridge, is DOUBLE track. Perhaps one track was out of service when you visited; or perhaps you are referring to another bridge ???
There is a stretch of single track through Edmonds, WA., a result of a losing battle with the bluff in this area. Sounder money will be used to reinstall the 2nd main; however I do not know of any bascule bridge in this area.
