Mr. Butler, I may just take you up on that! You can see me on the Davenport football field from 3-5 most school days. I'm the big guy with the whistle coaching junior high football. My house is the one with all the spruce trees in front on the west end of town. I like to stand in my driveway and watch your crews pass.

Once, several years ago, an eastbound train started a fire on the curve coming into the west side of Davenport. I just happened to be watching when the flames sprang up in my neighbor's backyard next to the tracks. I had my wife call 911 and ran over to do what I could with the neighbor's hose. I got it all out before the firetrucks came. Back then, there was a high rail truck that followed the train with a big water tank in the back. Seemed like a smart idea to me at the time. I believe that was in the early running of the Palouse Coulee City RR folks.
