May I clear-up a few misconceptions. I personally documented the restoration done by World-Wide railroad construction contractor Ballfour Beatty and signal contractor Mass Electric. Much of this I have posted before. Let me refresh, please. ALL Crossing signals along the entire 62 mile Russian River Division have been replaced and upgraded to the latest digital equipment. (And tested). The mainline from Lombard to Ignacio EXCEEDS Class 3, FRA Track standards and in some cases, class 4 from South end of Schelville Yard to Wingo along with brand new roadbed, sub grade and 8" deep ballast base and all new ties. Track from Ignacio to Windsor is a solid Class Two. NOT EXEMPT Class one 10 mph. Minimum track speed will be 25 for freight 30 for Passenger on Class 2. On the class 3 track 40 for freight and 49 mph for passenger and IF NWP ask for certification of the Class it will be a max. of 59 mph for passenger in DARK TERRITORY. The contractor replaced 55,000 ties along between between Lombard. One major customer in addition to feed, grain, lumber, gravel and sand will be Standard Structures in Windsor. They will receive inbound lumber and ship outbound pre fabricated laminated ceiling beams which reach lengths of 90 feet and can not be shipped by truck.
