Ironically, this email from the Oakland Old Rails Club showed up in my In Box today. I've blanked out some of the personal information.
"The Back Door Lounge"............our long awaited trip to [edit]'s bar is planned for December 4th. [edit] started his career with the SP and transferred to Amtrak where he spent more than twenty years as an Engineer before retiring in 2010. [edit] enjoyed a colorful reputation, much like his father, [edit], Sr. a switchman with the Southern Pacific who made the newspapers during the industry's crack down on drugs and alcohol. [edit]'s bar is in the classic style of "down home." It's next door to a restaurant, always a consideration among retirees. The plan is to ride Amtrak to Fremont aboard Train #733 which departs Martinez at 11:40am, Oakland/Jack London Square at 12:33pm, and walk the five minutes to the Back Door Lounge which is located at 37442 Fremont Blvd. Suite B, Fremont California 94536. Enter at back of building, naturally. For more information call [edit] at:
