Perhaps a more appropriate title for the article in the Fremont Bulletin would be "Fremont Gets Sold Bill of Goods."

I love this:

Matoff said by 2030, most Bay Area counties would be highly congested.

Alameda County, he suggested, will see an increase of 267 percent in delay hours for commuters.

If a motorist, for example, spends one hour driving from Fremont to Pleasanton now, they can expect their commute time to increase by more than 2.5 hours by 2030, he said.

To borrow from Mark Twain, there are lies, damned lies, and consultant projections. Fremont is 10 miles from Pleasanton and, under typical rush hour congestion conditions, it takes about 30 minutes on Interstate 680. The notion that it would exacerbate to 150 minutes in 2030 is idiotic, given that southern Alameda County and Silicon Valley are more or less built out and will not see dramatic increases in employment that would add enough trips to cause a two and a half-hour commute between Fremont and Pleasanton in 2030. Take this guy's claims with a grain of salt.
