True, the odds are most likely in your favor that you'll never have a problem, and yes all that hardware that was installed lineside is still there 50 years after it was put in. But also try to keep in mind that hardware is generally built like a brick shithouse, unlike the soft tissue of our bodies. The idea is to exercise caution, and not become complacent.
