Those are very interesting shots, Drew! I really enjoy the bottom photo, as it really gives the 'flavor' of the South Shore. I'd sure like an enlargement of that! Is that possible?
My attempts at depicting the South Shore were not as good as these, and shot mouch later in 1992 after the good, heavy equipment was gone.
By the way, I notice three types of wire suspension, actually. The top photo shows typical trolley wire, often seen in street running and good enough for shoe or wheeled trolley poles. And, in the bottom photo we see two designs of catenary: on the right we see a single messenger design, good for interurban pantograph operations, but on the left we note the higher speed double messenger design which is even more level and thus rated for even higher speeds. I'm not an authority on this, so corrections are more than welcome!
