I got corrected on this sometime back as the 800's on the South Shore were not called "Little Joe's" as were the same locomotives on the Milwaukee but were referred to as the "800's".

As for the wire types, this is mostly a guess, but the wire directly over the locomotive has the two messenger wires to provide additional electricity when pulling out of the yard. The North Shore (and maybe the South Shore) used two trolley poles to gain sufficient power to move heavy trains.
