Alright then, I'm going to move away from the authenticity issue for a bit with this question.
I'm thinking that maybe the location is closer to Rosasco, a little further down the canyon, than Hetchy.
I got let off at what looks like this spot back in '84 so I could photograph the 28 working up the hill. Light engine Shay 2 following the train stopped and gave me a ride back to Jimtown.
Brain Curnow would know for certain.
