The statement in the article that the Milwaukee line was operated until 1983 is somewhat misleading, as Milwaukee Road stopped operating the line in 1980. The Seattle & North Coast RR ran the line from 1980 to 1983, after Milwaukee had pulled out of its' Lines West.
Large portions of this line are now an excellent biking & hiking trail, with trailheads in S.W. Port Townsend near Cape George Colony, and in Sequim & Port Angeles. Also, the trail runs right through Sequim Bay State Park & campground just East of Sequim along U.S. 101.
