So the rails are removed, the trail is placed, using donations and volunteers, directed by California Division of Forestry? Do they need an Environmental Impact Statement?
Then mother nature dumps a lot of rain, and the trail is marred by gullies; and, a landslide covers up a portion. The volunteers go back out and do their good deed. And, they do it again, every summer, since it gets a lot of rain every winter.
A trestle or two gets old, and a bicycle hits a bad spot, falls over, and the rider tumbles off into the river. I hope its deep. How many lawyers will attempt to help them sue a California agency?
Why not just grab a mountain bike and ride the route now? Oh! Stay of the tunnels, nobody knows how dangerous they are!
