The newest ones are almost ten years old. They are cheap GE garbage. 90% of Amtrak's maintenance budget goes to pay the bonuses of the managers at Amtrak's maintenance facilities. Half the locomotive electricians they have can't differentiate between an open or closed circuit and most can't read a wiring diagram. Road crews complain about noise and draft inside the cab and coat ever crack and crevice with miles of duct tape (including the electrical cabinets). rust, corrosion, dust, tumble weeds and trash litter the engine rooms.

Have I left anything out? I wonder how many times F40s caught fire compared to P42s.
