It is very good to have railroad police. City and state police have absolutely no railroad safety training and typically don't even know what is where on a railroad. They put themselves in a hazardous situation every time they set foot on a rail property. I often hear local police on the radio talking about railroad tracks and don't even know which railroad uses them. Then there is the confusion of multiple jurisdictions through which a railroad passes.
