I might mention that in the early days of trip planning for the Cascade Rails 2011 NRHS convention, the idea was briefly touched on about running the excursion across Stampede Pass and on to Yakima, WA. Evidently this has been done in years past.

However, Excursion Manager "Ed Immel" said that would not be a good idea for the Convention, because it would make just "too long" a day for an outing of that kind. Oh well !!
