The SP black widow scheme rates high, but along with that, my vote for best looking western railroad freight locomotives goes to the Western Pacific orange/silver/black GP7's, 9's and 20's, with their unusual "steam era" headlights. The F-units also looked good, as did the GP35's and 40's that followed (with the same large headlights as the earlier Geeps).

That was not the original WP Diesel paint scheme but when it came along it really hit the mark. Unfortunately, it was pretty expensive to keep up.
