Scott- I saw Drew at WINTERAIL. Trust me, he is making good decisions on his photos when his time on this planet comes to an end.
Regarding which Museums might be considered by some to be "more wealthy" in assets than others.
I would venture to say that the Bay Area Electric Railroad Association at Rio Vista Junction, CA who own and operate the "Western Railway Museum", takes "first place" in line for "having the loot"... But I shouldn't really use that slang of a name..
WRM has a LOT of rolling stock--- a LOT of different operating equipment-- a LOT of non-operating equipment-- a LOT of property and some twenty-two miles of railroad.
Their historical climate-controlled archives are immense and can rival most anything CSRM might think they have. I got a private tour after Winterail 2010 and I was really awe-struck.
They were blessed by a former deceased member who left WRM with a gigantic endowment account that would knock your socks off. It is unbelievably HUGE and would make most other museums cry with envy. Their overall assets are easily in the seven or eight-figure range. They were evidently doing things right or "God" wouldn't have blessed them ! (grin)
Anyway, I wanted to share this. I have been a member for over 46 years. They have to be very careful how and when to access the Endowment Funds or there could be severe tax consequences, I would imagine. But, as has been previously stated, there are a LOT of worthy Museums out there that deserve your support. So pick one and do what you can..
Cheers.
