Another good location to check out while you're in the Richmond area is the town of Ashald, about 10 miles north of Richmond. The CSX, former RF&P mainline splits the center of town and includes some "street running".

You might also check out, if you have the time, the diamond crossing at Doswell, about 20 miles north of Richmond. This is where the ex-RF&P crosses the Buckingham Branch ex-C&O Richmond-Charlottesville line (this route is the historic Virginia Central RR, which figured prominently during the Civil War).
