Of course like everything else, you get no more than you pay for - if even that. Its all that high tech war stuff that is so darn expensive. So lets just cut it out - what the hey.<<<
Yes. An expensive war is OK but expensive public infrastructure improvements here are not? Maybe Halliburton should get a cut of public transit projects. Then the story would be different as long as the right people rake in the dough.
We get more bang for the buck right here at home. Forget subsidizing Iraq and that mess; that's a lose-lose fiasco and has been since Day 1 costing taxpayers billions and billions. Much smarter to spend the money here at home. Fund Amtrak properly; it's less than pocket change compared to the war our great leader wanted so badly. New equipment could be purchased for every train (and more); capacity enhancements financed to improve railroad operation and money would still be left over to spend on other needs. How about new Pacific Parlour cars for 11/14?
Money left over? Go build a tall, long fence adjacent to Canada and Mexico to keep terrorists of of the country. Or whatever. But more Amtrak funding would be money well spent.
