While I use a cell phone, I use it responsibly. When on the Starlight I have gone downstairs in the coach near the door to conduct my phone call. Recently being on the Cascades I did hear the conductor mention that cell phone use was not permitted onboard. Now, with a silly rule like this that is not a written rule I find this in bad taste. Perhaps if they mention on the trains that if you need to use your phone, go to the vestibule area of the train (Talgo, Amfleet, or downstairs on a Superliner) they wouldn't have to make up rules like this.

On the other hand, what the woman did on the Starlight after being asked to turn it off and refusing to think to offer to move downstairs to continue her phone call, yeah she got what she deserved.

What's next? Tuned RF shielded windows like in Sweden and Germany (where I can't use my GPS but my phone works fine)??????
