Minor mis-statement on the CZ detour(forgot about Santa Fe's direct shot from Bakersfield to Barstow). Being the "California Adventure", I guess the California Zephyr was the right match. I still say(my opinion, though) something more regional would have been appropriate(say the Santa Fe, with the long time popular warbonnet paint scheme, as well as being the hometown RR of Walt Disney himself). But, not too much should be made of the impending loss of the current exhibit. As many as five pieces of the real CZ can be found up in Portola, CA at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. This includes the only WP CZ unit in existence(WP FP-7 805A), one of very few(the only one that I know of)CZ diners around(Silver Plate, a WP car), as well as no less than 3 Vista Dome cars. A few more(such as Silver Lariat, Solarium, Rapids) have been known to show up for special events like Railroad Days.
