DesertXpress High Speed Rail ... mother lode of comedy

The DesertXpress folks have filed a Petition for Exemption with the STB to build their high speed rail line between Victorville and Las Vegas. I haven't laughed this hard in months!

1. They expect to be a Class I railroad, meaning annual revenues will exceed $250 million.
2. They forecast 6.49 million roundtrips annually in the beginning years and 8.93 million in 35 years.
3. The project is expected to create 88,984 primary and secondary jobs in California and Nevada.
4. The project's total cost is currently estimated at $6.5 billion.
5. They want a $6 billion RRIF loan from the Feds.
6. Maximum speed is 150 MPH.

I don't know what to say. To call their plan bullshit is insulting to bulls.
