Yeah, I was lucky enough to the the "Night Trains of the Coast Route" for Christmas years ago, long before it became out of print. I just bought the "Day Trains of the Coast Route" this year. The authors said in the Night Trains book that they would do many books on the various SP routes (e.g. Sunset Route, San Joaquin, etc). Unfortunately, they've never done any beyond the two Coast Route books. Too bad because they are good books, as are all Four Ways West books.
That reminds me of the old Chatham Publishing Company in Burlingame. They produced an excellent book on the SP Alco PAs and stated that it would be the first of many volumes on the various SP locomotives. They were trying to decide if the Vol. 2 would be on the E units or F units. Unfortunately, that was it. They stopped at Volume 1.
Four Ways West also has several "Volume 1" books that they state in the intro they will do future volumes, but I wonder if there ever will be a Volume 2. Santa Fe in the Lone Star State, Western Maryland, Rio Grande and Miss Katy in the Lone Star state all stated there will be follow on volumes published. I'm waiting to see if that happens.
Yeah, Karen's books is best all around in my experience. A few other book companies aren't exactly warm and friendly. A few other ones are fantastic nice people, but I've found their quality (packing, dented books, etc) to be unreliable at best. Bill and Karen (unrelated business partners, apparently) seem to get it right all around.
