Steam will run in 2012! The crew informed us that Xanterra has elected to go ahead with the federally mandated rebuild of former CB&Q #4960.
Work should start sometime after October, this year with the expectation that she'll be ready for service by February 14th, 2012 for the first run to the
Canyon next year.
There's still time to chase /patronize and ride the train, powered by steam, this coming September 17th, 2012. Help show Xanterra that steam is a worthwhile investment.

Ride all the way to the canyon behind Engine #4960 on:
- February 14
- June 2
- July 4
- September 15
The Cataract Creek Rambler will conduct short 8-mile runs on the hour, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Williams. These special trains offer a great
chance to ride behind the steam engine and will be available on:
- May 12-13
- June 9
Also - keep in mind, AT&SF #3751 is
tentatively scheduled to visit the Grand Canyon in mid-May of 2012!
May 12-21: Grand Canyon Limited to the Arizona Centennial
Santa Fe 4-8-4 #3751 to power an excursion from Los Angeles to Williams and Phoenix, plus a doubleheaded trip on the Grand Canyon Railway with
both 3751 and CB&Q 2-8-2 #4960.
