As you may or may not be aware, two east coast historical societies recently renewed their venture and repainted (and re-restored) a set of F units that had started life as Bangor and Aroostock units, based in Maine.
The Anthracite Railroads Historical Society owns #664, as well as a B unit which is expected to be restored to operation in the near future. Tri-State Railroad Historical Society owns #663. At one time they were based in Jim Thorpe and wore CNJ colors which was fitting based on the location. Now that they preside at Steamtown, they are appropriately painted up as Delaware, Lackawanna and Western, native to Scranton.
Enjoy the following pictures of their first Summer in operation over the former DL&W main!

On a side note: As an east coast guy, I always wonder what railfans think when they see revived eastern liveries such as the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western, or even the Reading, PRR, NYC, New Haven, ect. PRR E's are a big draw because it is, after all, the mighty PRR railroad. What do you all think of the DL&W F's, a much lesser known line that has a more local flavor (perhaps most analogical to S,P&S, vrs SP on the west coast?). It was not until I became familiar with DL&W routes and relics (stations, towers, ect) that I could fully appreciate the line.
Are there any F's running around the west coast other then the SP painted unit? It's a shame the AT&SF's (or the WP units) don't get any track time.
