Thanks for the shots of my Grandfather's railroad; he hired on "The DL " in 1939 & retired from " Erie Lack - o - Money " in 1966. His last yard assignment, as a car toad, was @ Taylor Yard in Scranton, PA.
There are actually quite a few historic diesels out West; however they seldom see use on the point on any mainline. Mostly museum stuff. F - Units are more rare out West, as GN, Espee, DRGW, & WP traded in most of their early ones on later Geeps, while Santa Fe converted theirs into CF - 7's. Keep in mind the Western roads dieselized earlier than the Eastern roads, mostly due to bad water & steeper grades; therefore their F - Units were worn out by the late 1960's.
