Great picture and great memory of a fun trip. It was also fun to once again mount my M5 horn on that engine and run it down the main line.
It was amazing that we even got to take that engine out on the main as it was not maintained well at all. It rode like crap, extreme lateral motion, trucks hunted, no profile left on the wheels, had oil leaks everywhere in the engine room, brakes were iffy, and smoked like a son of a gun when we first took off in the morning. If I remember right on that trip, we left Emeryville in run 8 and the smoke from the engine didn't clear up for many miles. It got so bad in the cab we had to isolate the engine for a bit so we could breathe again. We cut it back in and let it continue to smoke and it finally cleared up by Crockett.
Still, it was a fun run.
