Early THA members headed up the restoration of the Falk in the 1970's I'm surprised the City of Eureka still retained title to the engine. Early on Fort Humboldt was owned by the City of Eureka. Does anyone know if the Elk River Gypsy is state owned and will it go to THA also? Maybe Jeff could help on that too? Fort Humboldt was never intended to be a "logging museum" and the presence of the NCLIA (THA) conflicts with the original intent of the state historic site which is a frontier military post briefly the home of pre-Civil War officer U.S.Grant. The site has always been somewhat "politically incorrect" due to atrocities committed there during the Indian Wars period in NW California. The State has always restricted THA's activity to a few hundred feet of track and monthly steamups during the summer. It would be best if all that historic equipment was under THA's control elsewhere.
