Yesterday I road the 5:45 AM Express (only 2 intermediate stops) from San Berandino. One hour flat instead of the normal 1.5 hrs. Eight cars (I think). Two F59PHs pushing (like hell at times). I rode in
Cab Car 638. It rode well. All the seats
faced backwards for safety reasons I assume. The seats seemed substantial. The interior materials look durable and easily cleaned.
The ride was actually fun. There was a stretch where there were grade crossings every other block. The engineer never stopped blowing for maybe three miles and he nailed every grade crossing with the third long blast.
And I think the motivation for getting them was very substantial. So why do you think it was a waste of money Mike?
