Another fact to check is that, as Eric stated, the two new Talgo trainsets will allow existing trainsets to be lengthened, providing more seats per train. The extra trainset will allow more flexibility in maintenance scheduling, as the original Talgo trainsets are now approaching their first major overhaul.
I agree that King Street Station renovations have been a ' work in progress' for far too long, however many of the improvements are not readily apparent. Next time you are there, look up as you enter, at the new canopies around the building. The sign out front is also lit once again; the clocks work again as well. Also consider the new HVAC & electrical systems present. Of course, none of the improvements could be made until Asbestos removal was completed. And as OPB said, at least the "High - Speed Rail " money is going to something railroad - related. It could be going to build a bridge to nowhere.
