Marty,

Really enjoy your photos, especially the Midwest from the 1960's and 70's. You phtographed some of the same Q steam trips that I either chased or rode. I am just catching up on the Altamont discussion board from a holiday break.

I am curious about the date of the DZ going through the puzzle switches leaving Chicago, IL. The consist looks like an early Amtrak train. The date of the photo is March 30, 1971. Amtrak started May 1, 1971. Did some railroads start early?
