The last time I checked, the major bridges in the Bay Area had tolls. If you haven't had to drive an automobile in the area, or if you are not being in or from the area, you may not know that. The Golden Gate Bridge was paid off years ago and had so much money after expenses they bought a navy and a bus line. This kept the bridge district indebted so the directors could collect their fees and expenses and therefore the bridge couldn't revert to the state as is has the Oakland Bay Bridge. All politicians, one from each county in the district collect some real nice money for attending "District Meetings". Some get airfare and limo expenses. Airports charge gate and passenger fees that go to the cities and some freeways and roads go where trains don't. Ask what taxes truckers pay and what vehicle operators pay in taxes at the fuel pump. Some of the money is supposed to go for roads. The rest is siphoned off for pork barrels by guess who? This is a game played by politicians to get something for a few that are paid by the masses who won't get to use it. Make it pay it's way by those who use it. The environmental card doesn't work either. They are pushing that one so hard that they want to tax the farmers in the valley for the methane their cows generate. Come on. The cows were here before the world war two population growth. Are they going to tax humans for that too? The whole subject is so much gas which aptly equates to politics.
