And they are choosing to if you read the articles in the papers from Bakersfield and on up
uthe valley and the California Farm Bureau. My brother-in-law was president of the California Farm Bureau and was subsequently appointed state secretary of ag by Deukmejian and also served Pete Wilson. We have orchards in Ceres/Hughson and believe me, my brother-in-law never had anything good to say about px trains etc. It gives me a wry sense of pleasure that his grave is right across from the BNSF ROW at the cemetery in Hughson as the San Joaquins roar by !! :-) However, plowing a new ROW for HSR thru the orchards and fields of the central valley isn't my idea of a good idea in terms of the havoc it will wreak on agriculture.
