Loma Prieta is the name of the mountain near the epicenter of the 1989 earthquake---the fault name is the San Andreas. As to the rail line crossing it, if you ride on the Coast Line and go thru Chittenden canyon south of Gilroy on the Coast Line you cross the San Andreas there and can actually see the undulating line in the hills/canyon.
