So, you're willing to be the first to prove us all wrong Hutch? Where do you think all the pollutions goes? Does the rain really wash it all away?
Interesting find a few weeks back about Montreal, Canada and their snow removal. They collect snow full of contaminants (salt, sand, ice-melting chemicals) and dump it into an unused quarry for the Spring melt. Then once the melted water is treated, the chemicals, sand and salt can be re-used without polluting the St. Laurence River. It is proven that the environmental savings has completely changed the ecosystem of the river, and certain species have returned after many decades of dead water because of those contaminants.
Honestly, even being near the exhause pipes of any internal combustion motor is a health concern.
