I have found that www.topozone.com is a good source of information for old railroad lines. In this case the old spur line is still shown on the topographical map for Stockton, CA (USGS STOCKTON WEST (CA) Topo Map). It appears to follow the route described in the previous posts.

Apparently the topographical maps don't get updated all that often these days (which is sometimes a good thing). Sometimes the topo maps will show dashed lines for abandoned rail lines. This one is still mapped as an active railroad line even though we all know the tracks were physically removed many years ago.
