GUM train is a name used to refer to the Guadalupe Turn/Hauler which takes cars between Gemco Yard in Van Nuys to Guadalupe. The UP symbol for this train is LOF67 for the NB move on Mon and Thur, and LOF66 for the SB move on Tue and Fri.

I keep a list of freights operating on the Coast Line on my web page: [www.cuestapassrails.com] I have a slightly updated version that I'll try to get up one of these days, but there really have not been any major changes.

I don't know what day you are ridding, but your best bets for seeing freight will be: the Hollister Local which will most likely still be in Watsonville Jct when the southbound Coast Starlight goes through; the LOF66 at Gaviota - Santa Barbara (if riding on a Tue or Fri) when 11 passes them; the LOF67 at Oxnard (if riding on Mon or Thru) doing a set out; the LOF65 at Oxnard (if riding on Wed) again doing a set out. Also can keep an eye out for the cans at Wunpost, they may or may not be there.

For updates on what is moving on the Coast Line you can check out the yahoo group Heads Up Coast Fans: [finance.groups.yahoo.com]

Hope this helps a bit, and best of luck!
