The Safeway warehouse was actually near Florin Road, by where the SP interchanged with the Central California Traction (at Polk, south of Brighton where the Placerville Branch left the mainline). I don't remember a public display, but about 1976 I did get in there to photograph the equipment. IIRC, what was there was the SP E, F, and Baldwin roadswitcher, the UP 0-6-0, and the NWP coach.
The remains of the Placerville Branch seems to still have a bit of freight traffic, at least a couple of industries around the Folsom Blvd./Sunrise Blvd. area and the scrapyard out near Aerojet. A ride on the light rail provides a good look at the line.
