Hi Ken and others. I took that excursion trip when I was 20 years old. The train WAS called the "Blossom Time Special." It was really a grand trip and I had no idea that there would never be another one. I still remember the two W.P. F7 units that took us from Oakland to Ortega and back to Oakland. They were 919-A (a cab unit) and 919-B ( a cabless booster.) I took many slide photos of the trip and still have them somewhere. The trip REALLY got me well acquainted with the Tidewater Southern route. If I recall correctly, the train made no meets with any trains on the W.P. that day.
