Most of the land in the area known as American Flat is owned by the fed's BLM. Some areas are still active mining claims but should not be a problem. There is a road taking off just below Gold Hill and takes off across froim a large blue house. There is another road taking off in Silver City and goes up to Haywards Siding and, if you have 4x4, can get you down to Mound House. In chasing, if you get three places you are doing good, more than likely two. I would recomend going in armed.
