Well, we do, in fact, have this experience. We have Roosevelt with his CCC, WPA, TVA, rural electrification and etc programs, we have Kennedy with his 1960's space program, we have DARPA, that gave us the basics for the Internet. The US can think, and has thought big, and acted accordingly, and, surprisingly, with end results that provide great social value. I do, however, concede that the US may be faltering now.
