A former Northern Pacific Budd-built dome car is moving from the Redwood City harbor to Oakland. The car has already moved from Redwood City to South San Francisco and was supposed to ride Sunday night's Mission Bay Turn to San Jose, although I don't know it if did.
Right now, the car is scheduled to ride from South SF to San Jose on the LRQ50 29
San Jose to Newark on the LRQ83 31
Newark to Roseville on the MNWRV 01 (via Altamont)
Roseville to Oakland on the MRVOA 02 (via Martinez)
All dates and trains are subject to change.
Once the car arrives in Oakland, it will be interchanged to Amtrak for movement to Chicago.
My understaing is that the car has been sold to Iowa Pacific Holidings and will be repainted in their Illinois Central-inspired brown and orange paint scheme.
The car is currently moving under PPCX 800601 reporting marks.
And before anyone asks why the car isn't moving directly from San Jose to Oakland, it's because UP curently has no through trains that operate that way, thus it has to go via Roseville.
