If Iowa Pacific plans to repaint this car in IC colors, odds are it will show up on their upcoming overnight sleeper service to New Orleans.
The concept, as I've read about it, is to run a five-car add-on to the Amtrak "City of New Orleans". The Iowa Pacific cars would include two sleepers, a full-length dome lounge, a dining car and an observation. They already have an ex-Santa Fe, ex-Holland America dome repainted in the IC scheme; this car was part of the consist used on the trips at this year's NRHS convention in Iowa.
Another consist is to run Chicago-New York on the "Lake Shore Limited", this one with dining car, observation and three sleepers (these are supposed to be heaveyweight sleepers with higher-speed-capable six-wheel trucks).
Apparently the concept is to provide traditional-style Pullman service, not the extremely high-priced luxury service that was the norm on American Orient Express.
