Thanks everybody for the info. I wasn't sure when the change happened, though I do remember riding a test train of the new equipment some time in the mid-80s.

On the Saturday question ... since most trains didn't stop before Bayshore or only hit one SF stop southbound (except 126 and 170 for some reason hit them all) I was confused. 126 indeed is the only SB that skips more than a couple of stops down the Peninsula. NB, several morning trains skipped stops at the north end, including 139 all the way from Broadway (not on Sunday).
