Albert Shanker is who the quote was attributed to. Not CTA, but another union by the way. In all fairness, there is some dispute as to the accuracy of the quote, but I have plenty of friends and relatives in the teaching profession. These people are rank-and-file teachers and administrators, and from what they and I have observed, the sort of opinion attributed to Mr. Shanker is far too common in the leadership of the education unions. If he was not quoted 100% accurately, or he was not the source of the quote, you can be sure there are others in union leadership positions who DO feel that way. Count on it.
