I understand that the Syskiyou Shippers Coalition,(mainly Timber Products and Roseburg), along with very strong support from the State of Oregon, has been successful in obtaining a Grant, either a Tiger Program or a GO Orgeon sponsored grant, not sure which, for the rehab of the line from Black Butte to Ashland, over the Siskiyou Pass. An article was published in Trains, August issue I think, outlining the details of the grant and some vague timeline. It would be of great value to the Shippers and the YWR when this comes to pass.
We have persued about every option to keep the YW intact until pass is reponed, inclinding the removal of non essential trackage and surplus equipment. Without out a firm timeline or shipping projection, it is difficult to project the future of the YW at this time.
