An old timer still goin' strong.
A couple of weeks ago Iowa Traction Co. motor 54 was switching grain cars at Mason City, Iowa. This museum quality locomotive was built in 1923 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and, instead of languishing in a museum, still puts in a days work on an honest to goodness freight hauling railroad. This must be among the most ancient piece of railroad equipment that is still utilized in regular service. What a treat to have been able to witness this classic. If you're ever in Iowa be sure to check it out.
