It's my understanding that the Japanese, through an infusion of currency to the Solomon Islands, sought to change
the name of Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. The Marine Corps got wind of this and stopped
that crap in its tracks.

Henderson was a Marine aviator who lost his life in an earlier air
battle in 1942. There is a memorial to him (and others) at the airport. I hope it stays
forever.
